Changelog
Every update that reached NeuralWriter, from the first paraphraser in 2022 to today: new tools, improvements and fixes. Newest first.
2026
More reliable background processing
- Text tasks already in progress can finish during routine updates.
- Long summaries stop unused section requests when processing ends early.
More consistent summary references
- Source references remain linked to the original sentences when a long summary is combined.
- Incomplete citation formatting gets one correction attempt within the existing processing time.
More reliable long summaries
- Long multilingual documents are processed in sections and combined with links to the original source sentences.
- Every section is included, and all processing stages share one time budget.
Faster text processing
- Text requests spend less time waiting behind other work.
- Requests that are no longer needed leave the waiting queue automatically.
Restore tool processing
- Restored processing for text tools, AI detection and file tools after a connection authentication failure.
- Short texts show detector requirements immediately, and rejected requests stop waiting for a result.
An email writer that does not sound like AI
The AI Email Writer now writes short, plain emails from your facts instead of long, polite ones nobody reads, and checks every draft before you send it. It stays free, with no sign-up, in 30 languages.
- Four modes: New email from a few facts, Reply to an email you received, Polish my draft to fix and tighten your own email, and Calm it down to turn an angry draft into a calm, firm one that keeps every demand and deadline
- Replies in their tone: paste the email you got and your answer in a few words. The reply matches the sender's greeting, length and formality and is written in their language
- Facts, not a brief: say what you need, who it is to and one specific detail. The email starts with the point, not with pleasantries
- Two versions with different openings, and the one that kept every date and number with the fewest stock phrases is marked as recommended
- Rewrite one sentence: click any sentence for a shorter, more direct, warmer or more formal wording, or edit the text by hand
- Length and tone settings: Auto, Short, Medium or Long, and a Natural tone that never makes your email more formal than you wrote it, plus Casual and Formal. Subject line and sign-off can be turned on or off
- No stock phrases: no "I hope this email finds you well", no "I wanted to reach out", no bold text, and no long dashes in English emails
- Email check: length, subject length, reading level, paragraph size, questions to answer, "you" versus "I/we", AI phrases left in the text, and whether every date and figure from your text survived. Missing figures, softened deadlines and numbers you never gave are flagged
- Private data stays in your browser: email addresses, phone and card numbers, IBANs and passwords are swapped for tokens before your text is sent and put back in the result
- Ready examples: a follow-up after an interview, a resignation email, a payment reminder, a reply to a client, a complaint and more. One click loads any of them into the writer in the right mode
- A side-by-side example on the page shows the same facts written as a typical AI email and by the new writer
A grammar checker that keeps your voice
The Grammar Checker now fixes spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes without rewriting what you wrote, and explains every fix. It stays free, with no sign-up, in 30 languages, for texts of up to 10,000 characters.
- Every fix explained: click a highlighted fix to see what changed and the rule behind it, and undo it with one click. Copy takes only the fixes you kept
- Two modes: Fix mistakes (the default) corrects only spelling, grammar and punctuation and leaves correct sentences as they are. Natural phrasing also rewords awkward phrases the way a native speaker would, changing as few words as possible
- No invented edits: when your text is already correct, you see "No mistakes found" instead of changes made for the sake of change
- Filter by type: spelling, grammar, punctuation and style fixes are counted separately. Show one type at a time or undo all fixes of a type at once, and see what percentage of your text changed
- Links, code and tags stay untouched: URLs, email addresses, code,
{{variables}}, @mentions and #hashtags come back exactly as you wrote them - No added long dashes in English texts, so corrected writing does not pick up a typical sign of AI text
- Style notes: words repeated close together, sentences over 35 words, several sentences in a row that start the same way, and in English, filler words and overused phrases. They are suggestions only and never change your text
- Long texts are checked a few paragraphs at a time, so every paragraph comes back checked and in its place
- A live example and a guide on the page show a real check with its explanations and the 10 kinds of mistakes the checker fixes, in every language
Headlines written for where they will be published
The Headline Generator now writes for a specific place, from a Google result to an email inbox, and shows you how each headline will look there.
- 13 platforms: blog post, news, product page, landing page, YouTube, TikTok and Reels, Twitch, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, email subject, Google Ads and Facebook and Instagram ads. Each one gets its own length limit and style
- Live preview: click any headline to see it in a realistic Google result, YouTube feed, phone inbox, LinkedIn post or ad, cut exactly where the platform cuts it
- Length check per platform: blog and news titles are measured in pixels, the way Google cuts them, and every line shows when it runs too long
- 5 tones, including a new Calm tone for niche and expert topics, and a Reader setting for product pages, landing pages, emails and ads
- Formulas and the strongest pick: every headline shows the formula it follows, and the best one is marked with a short reason
- Critique: a skeptical reader and an editor review any headline, list its risks and suggest a better version
- Customer words: paste reviews or comments, and the headlines reuse your audience's own phrases
- Rewrite my titles: paste up to 30 existing headlines and get each one rewritten, or critique the originals
- Generate more adds new angles to the list instead of starting over, and headlines no longer use typical AI phrasing
- The Word Counter shows the same preview for your text on Google, YouTube, X, LinkedIn and email
Prompts that fit the task
The Prompt Generator no longer turns every idea into a long template. A quick request gets a short prompt, and only a big task gets sections.
- Choose where the prompt goes: Chat, Code, Image or Video. Each one is written the way that kind of tool works best
- Pick the model: ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and the prompt is laid out the way that model reads best (XML tags for Claude). Keep Any for a prompt that works everywhere
- Image and video prompts describe the scene, camera and light in plain words, without "8k" or "octane render" filler
- Ask me first: turn it on and the generator first asks up to 3 quick questions about your idea. Pick an answer, type your own or skip, and the prompt is written with your answers
- Refine in one click: make the prompt Shorter, More specific, or Add examples of the answer you expect
- Nothing made up: facts only you know, like names, numbers or your audience, appear as highlighted
[placeholders]to fill in - See what the prompt adds to your idea, and why, under the result
- Prompt language: keep the language of your idea or get the prompt in English
A summarizer you can check
AI summaries are only useful if you can trust them. The Summarizer now shows where every sentence comes from, reads PDFs, Word files and web pages, and handles six times more text.
- Source citations: hover or tap any sentence of the summary and the sentences of the original it is based on light up in your text
- Numbers are checked against the original before you see the summary. If one isn't there, the summary is written again, and anything that still can't be found is flagged
- The whole text, read in one piece: up to 60,000 characters (about 20 pages) per run, and a coverage bar shows which paragraphs the summary draws on
- 5 formats: Paragraph, Bullets, Key points, TL;DR and Outline
- 8 templates: Meeting notes with action items, Executive summary (bottom line first), Business case, Study notes with review questions, Research paper (IMRaD), Plain-language summary, Discussion & comments, and Straight answer for clickbait headlines
- Upload a PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown file, or import an article from a link: only the article is kept, without the menu, ads and comments
- Focus on the topics the summary must cover, add short instructions, and get the summary in any of 30 languages
- Check claims points out unsupported claims, unanswered promises, one-sided passages and contradictions in the text
- Download as Word (.docx) or Markdown (.md) for Notion or Obsidian, or send the summary to the Paraphraser or the Translator in one click
- See every step while you wait: reading the text, writing the summary, checking numbers and sources
- Articles imported from a link show their author, date and reading time, and the word count is shown as you type
- Try an example fills in a sample text, and a worked example on the page shows how the source citations work
Lock words the paraphraser must not change
Some words have to survive a rewrite untouched: a brand, a product name, a legal term, a quote. Now you can tell the paraphraser which ones.
- New Don't change field under the text: type a word or phrase and press Enter, up to 20 per text
- Suggestions from your own text (acronyms, brand names like iPhone, quoted phrases, names in the middle of a sentence), added with one click
- Locked phrases keep their exact spelling, capitalization and form. The sentence is rebuilt around them, so it stays grammatical even in languages with cases and genders
- If a locked phrase still goes missing in the result, the text is rewritten again before you see it
- Formatting survives the rewrite: Markdown headings, bold text, lists and tables, HTML tags, links, inline code and citations such as (Smith, 2020) or [1] come back exactly where they were
- Texts sent to the writing tools are deleted automatically within 24 hours. The Privacy Policy now says so explicitly
Paraphraser: 8 writing styles and plain-language standards
Until now you could only choose how hard the paraphraser rewrites. Now you also choose what the text should sound like, and who it is for.
- 8 styles: Standard, Fluent, Formal, Academic, Simple, Creative, Shorten (30–50% fewer words) and Expand (30–60% longer)
- 12 language standards for writing that has to follow a rule, not a taste: ISO 24495-1 plain language, Easy-to-Read (ISO/IEC 23859), CEFR A2–B1, the CDC Clear Communication Index, ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English, Attempto Controlled English, UX writing, Amazon-style narrative, and four English word lists (Oxford 3000, Ogden's Basic English, Globish and the Academic Word List)
- National standards appear when your text is in their language: Leichte Sprache and Einfache Sprache for German, Lectura Fácil, FALC, Klarspråk, Selkokieli, やさしい日本語 and others, 17 in total
- Strength stays a separate choice: Light keeps your sentence order and voice, Hard rewrites thoroughly
- Rephrase again gives you another version of the same text in one click
- Check with AI detector opens the AI Detector with your result and starts the check right away
- A guide on the page explains every style and standard and links to the official documents

AI Detector: six engines, sentence by sentence
- Every text is checked by six detectors at once: QuillBot, ZeroGPT, Originality.ai, Copyleaks, Grammarly and Ahrefs
- Sentence highlights show which parts were flagged as AI, using the per-sentence data from Originality.ai, QuillBot and Grammarly
- Each result appears as soon as its engine finishes, so one slow detector doesn't hold back the rest
- When an engine doesn't support the language of your text (Originality.ai reads English only), its card says so instead of showing a score it can't stand behind
Image tools and long texts
- Image Upscaler has two modes: Instant enlarges the image right in your browser, so the file never leaves your device, and AI redraws the details before scaling to the size you pick
- Image Generator shows each result in a large preview, ready to download
- Long texts no longer time out. A text task now runs in the background while the page checks on it, for up to four minutes
- If our main AI engine is slow or unavailable, a backup engine finishes the job, so you get a result instead of an error
AI Detector: Grammarly added, all engines run in parallel
- Grammarly's AI detector replaces Winston AI
- All engines now start at the same time, and each result shows up the moment it is ready
- Clearer messages when an engine doesn't support your language
- Long texts get more time before a check gives up
New AI Detector with five engines
The AI Detector no longer relies on a single model. It now asks five well-known detectors and shows you each answer.
- Checks with QuillBot, ZeroGPT, Originality.ai, Copyleaks and Winston AI
- A score per engine, labeled Human, Mixed or AI
- Progress steps while the engines work, so you know the check is still running
Image Generator: 25 styles and a prompt helper
- Style picker with 25 looks, each with a preview: cinematic, anime, watercolor, oil painting, 8-bit and 16-bit pixel art, 3D render, comic book, low poly, polaroid, sketch, synthwave and more
